Painting & Refinishing: Gym Floor at the Astor Home For Children - Rhinebeck, NY.

We started out measuring & sketching the lines, boxes, circles & other marks.

Then we sanded off all of the polyurethane & resurfaced the maple running the length of the gym floor. The floor got sanded a total of 4 times starting out aggressively with a coarser grit and then using a finer grit each time to polish up the wood as well as remove any marks left by the coarse grit. 

Laying out the patterns on the floor was no easy task & required some creativity as well as several rolls of blue painters tape. With a bit of patients we had the lines hand painted on the floor by the end of the day.

Finally we finished the floor with an oil based polyurethane that was UL® listed  for use on gym floors. To attain the desired smoothness & results we buffed the floor in between all  coats of poly with buffing screens.
