Exterior painting:
We painted the exterior of this farm house last fall (2008). We started by pressure washing the house with bleach & Jomax to kill all of the mold.
After letting the house dry for a day or two we began our prep work.
Prep:
1st we scraped all of the loose paint from the house.
Then we sanded all of the edges to help blend in the old paint with the bare wood.
Prime:
Then we primed all bare wood with an oil based primer. (Seal GripĀ® Alkyd Universal Primer Sealer)
There were also several stains on the house from the cedar siding bleeding through the paint. We scrubbed all of these areas with detergent and then primed those areas with a synthetic primer to seal in the stains.
Finish coats:
Finally We applied two coats of Premium Pittsburgh paint (Manor HallĀ® Exterior Paints) |
